The designs maintain a minimal aesthetic, using simple colour tones and clean lines to establish a distinct identity while launching the brand. Rather than focusing solely on basics like t-shirts and hoodies, Studio 490 aims to offer a diverse range of wearable yet tasteful garments, with plans to continue introducing different types of clothing beyond the usual staples.
The brand prioritises the selection of premium fabrics to ensure both durability and comfort for the wearer. Each piece is thoughtfully crafted to combine style with functionality, providing a contemporary wardrobe that is forward-thinking, versatile, and easy to integrate into daily life. In addition to design, input was provided on styling and the creative direction of promotional shoots, helping to shape the visual presentation and overall narrative of the brand.
The meaning behind the brand name, Studio 490, reflects a deeper significance tied to the concept of bread and completeness. The number 490 symbolises the “bread of life” — a reference to the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem (Hebrew “Beit Lechem”, meaning “House of Bread”) and the idea of forgiveness and spiritual wholeness. In Hebrew alphanumeric values, Bethlehem and concepts of perfection both correspond to 490. The number also connects to the teaching of extending forgiveness fully, highlighting the brand’s ethos of intentionality, completeness, and purpose in its approach to design and creativity.
Studio 490 therefore represents more than clothing; it is a thoughtful exploration of identity, style, and meaningful storytelling, offering garments that are both wearable and conceptually significant.
